Bequest provides access to digital technology

The late Douglas Browne was a longtime volunteer with the Friends of Toronto Public Library – South Chapter which runs Book Ends used book store at the Toronto Reference Library.  During his many years as a volunteer, Doug helped raise $1 million for the library through the sale of used books.

Doug’s dedication to the library lives on with a bequest he made in his will to the Toronto Public Library Foundation. His gift is funding new audio visual equipment for the green screen Studio Space at the Reference Library’s Digital Innovation Hub. The Studio Space is attracting both novices and those more experienced with audio and video production. Importantly, the new equipment addresses the library’s objective to bridge the digital divide by providing free access for everyone to new technology.
