Inviting Syrian newcomers to experience Toronto’s arts and culture

In early April, Syrian families recently received a warm welcome with a special program at the North York Central Library. Guests received an invitation to explore Toronto’s culture with a specially-designed Sun Life Financial Museum + Arts Pass (MAP) written in Arabic.

Sun Life Financial and TPL are distributing 1,000 MAP passes to Syrian newcomers. The free passes enable families to visit some of Toronto’s leading attractions including the Toronto Zoo, the Royal Ontario Museum, Art Gallery of Ontario and Agha Khan Museum.

(These passes are available through community agencies working with newcomers).

Additional TPL Services to Welcome Syrian Newcomers

Other library programs and services available to newcomers include settlement services, youth hubs, Canadian citizenship preparation, career and job search help, cultural programs and informational workshops.
