The Pauline and Gordon Hinch Memorial Award for Staff Development, initially established in honour of Pauline, recognizes her countless contributions to the Library throughout her outstanding career, and supports librarianship and professional development at TPL. The annual award provides a bursary to staff pursuing a career in public librarianship.
2026 Applications are now open.
We encourage all TPL staff who are taking courses to strengthen their commitment to public librarianship and build their career at the library to check out the award criteria to see if you qualify and apply.

Congratulations to our 2025 award recipients. And thank you to all staff who applied. It was wonderful to see the passion and innovative ideas coming from our librarians-in-training.
The TPL Foundation is proud to administer these awards, made possible through donor support. Over the past 17 years, 38 awards have been presented to library staff with a value totaling over $90,000.
